IU1 Extended School Year Services 2026

Extended School Year (ESY) services are special education programs and/or related services beyond the regular 180-day school year provided to students with disabilities. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) team determines ESY eligibility and services.

Listed below are the programs that Intermediate Unit 1 plan to operate during Summer 2026. (Programs may change dependent upon the needs of the districts and staffing.). The programs listed below will operate from 8:00 am–12:00 pm, Monday through Friday (unless otherwise noted). The dates of the ESY classroom programs are:

Inservice for Teachers: Thursday, June 18, 2026

First Day for Students: Monday, June 22, 2026

Last Day for Students and Teachers: Friday, July 17, 2026

Dates (19 total): June 22, 23, 24, 25, 26

June 29, 30, July 1, 2 (no classes will be held on July 3)

July 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

July 13,14, 15, 16, 17

Tentative classroom locations include:

McMurray Campus
- 1 MDS Program (Elementary/Secondary)
- 1 CTES Program (Elementary/Middle)
- 1 Autistic Support (Elementary)
- 1 Autistic Support (Secondary)
Waynesburg Campus
- 1 CTES Program (Elementary/Middle)
- 1 Autistic/LSS Support (Elementary/Middle)

Please complete the Documentation of Needs Form below for each student you are requesting to attend an IU1 ESY program or if you are requesting the IU provide them any ESY related services. *We will not be able to provide one-on-one aides for any students for ESY.* You will also need to attach copies of the completed ESY documentation including the student’s entire IEP and ER/RR. The full list of required documents can be found on the Documentation of Needs form. Services cannot be provided without the required documents.
