IU1 Regional Academic Competition Showcases Top Student Scholars Picture

The 2025 IU1 Regional Academic Competition took place on April 2nd at the Convocation Center at PennWest University, bringing together some of the brightest students in the region for an intense battle of knowledge and quick thinking.  

The final four teams—Fort Cherry, Brownsville, Canon-McMillan, and Laurel Highlands—competed over the span of four hours, answering challenging questions spanning science, world history, American history, literature, and recent events. The competition was fierce, with each team demonstrating impressive critical thinking and teamwork.  

In the final round, Brownsville and Laurel Highlands went head-to-head in a thrilling showdown. In the end, Laurel Highlands emerged victorious, securing their spot at the state competition in Harrisburg on May 2nd.  

Congratulations to all teams for their hard work and dedication, and best of luck to the Laurel Highlands Mustangs as they represent the region at the state level!
