Mathematics

The IU1 Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education is uniquely positioned to support mathematics education in your school or district through curriculum planning and consulting, instructional coaching, support of Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) initiatives, content development courses, and academics.

The C³ Project

The $1.4 million grant, entitled C³ Project: Content, Connections, and Collaboration, is a three year project and will enable IU1 and Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus to offer professional development for teams of math educators from 10 underperforming public school districts and three nonpublic schools. The C³ Project provides 95 teachers with a three year cycle of coursework involving an intensive Summer Academy and follow-up days focused on increasing content knowledge, developing rigorous tasks, and orchestrating meaningful classroom discourse. As a framework of ongoing support, teachers will receive job-embedded instructional coaching and will engage in professional learning communities (PLCs). Participants will receive four graduate credits each year for their work.
