District Teacher Induction Overview

Members of the IU1 District Induction Consortium believe that a solid induction program offered during the first years of an educator’s career greatly impacts a teacher’s instructional practice. The IU1 District Induction Consortium program is designed to assist districts in their efforts to help new employees better understand the dimensions of their roles in education and to prepare them for the challenges of creating a learning environment in which all students can succeed.

The IU1 District Consortium Induction Program creates a collaborative learning environment through a variety of courses and workshops over a two year period. These courses will be completed entirely online and require inductees to engage with colleagues from their own district as well as inductees from other participating districts.  Through an online learning management system, inductees participate in online discussions and activities to encourage continued collaboration across the region and build camaraderie amongst educators from the same district as well as educators throughout the IU1 region.
