Innovation and Design is the driving force behind science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. Intermediate Unit 1 strives to connect students, parents, educators, and the community with current innovative opportunities.

The Innovation and Design Blog serves a resource to connect IU1’s diverse and creative resources with students, parents, educators, and districts, assisting educators in developing innovative, forward thinking approaches on effectively bringing design and technology into the classroom.

Camp Tech 2019

Camp Tech circuitboard logoCamp Tech is a summer camp for students entering grades 3–8 in the fall of 2019. Students will explore science, technology, engineering, math, computer science and more with new and innovative technology!

Students will rotate through four sessions each day, beginning at 8:30 am and ending at 3:30 pm. Sessions fill quickly and space is limited to 48 participants at each site. Make sure to register early (registration opens at 9AM on March 28, 2019)!

Students must attend all day. Registration fee is $175 for the week ($140 for second student in same household), which includes all sessions, materials, and daily snacks. Students are asked to bring a bagged lunch.

Center for STEM Education

STEM Education Center logoInnovation and Design is an initiative of the IU1 Center for STEM Education. The center helps to roll-out best practice K–12 STEM programs, like providing graduate level courses for educators, implementing research based curricula, and offering summer camps for students.
