Intermediate Unit 1 Convention - Election Results
The following are the winners of the election for seats on the Intermediate Unit 1 Board of Directors held on March 26, 2024:
Fayette County - Regular Term
- Jeff Myers (Albert Gallatin Area School District)
Washington County - Regular Terms
- John Greenlee (Bethlehem-Center School District)
- Julie Chandler (Canon-McMillan School District)
Washington County - Unexpired Terms
- Tara Sparks-Gatling (Washington School District)
- William Price (Burgettstown Area School District)
The election for the director from Greene County resulted in a tie between:
- Robert Mitchell (Jefferson-Morgan School District)
- Wayne Knisely (Central Greene School District)
Pursuant to the applicable regulations, a tie vote is to be decided by the drawing of lots. The date and time for the drawing of lots between the above candidates will be announced by Intermediate Unit 1 on this website.
Update 04/02/2024
As previously posted, at the Intermediate Unit 1 (IU1) Convention held on March 26, 2024, the two nominees from Greene County, Robert Mitchell (Jefferson-Morgan School District) and Wayne Knisely (Central Greene School District) received the same number of votes to be elected to the IU1 Board of Directors.
In accordance with the regulations of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, a tie vote was to be decided by the drawing of lots. Such a drawing was held between Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Knisely on April 2, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at IU1’s Central Office. Mr. Mitchell was the successful nominee from the drawing and will serve a regular term on IU1’s Board of Directors.
