Intermediate Unit 1 (IU1) and its Adult Education program proudly celebrated the achievements of 26 students from across four counties during a special ceremony held on Tuesday, October 15. Each student earned a High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma by successfully passing the GED or HiSET exam.
“This is just the end of one chapter in your life, and now the real work begins as you build upon this,” said IU1 Executive Director Dr. Donald Martin, commending the graduates. “Recognize the fact that your journey was likely a little more difficult, with a few hurdles along the way.”
Throughout the evening, graduates took the microphone to share their personal journeys. Ranging in age from 18 to nearly 60 and coming from diverse backgrounds and regions across the country, each student shared a unique and heartfelt story. At the podium, they reflected on the obstacles they overcame and the unwavering determination that propelled them forward. Their words showcased the transformative power of education, and the resilience required to achieve this significant milestone.
The event also emphasized the vital role of EQT Corporation, whose generous support through vouchers and scholarships helped these students pursue and achieve their educational goals.
IU1 and its Adult Education staff extend their warmest congratulations to the graduates and wish them continued success as they move forward with their personal and professional goals.
