Greene County CTC Culinary Program Debuts Food Truck

The Greene County Career and Technology Center has launched its student-run food truck, named CTC Eats, at the school's open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony. It is the first of its kind in the region and was developed in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greene County and local businesses.

The food truck, featuring a commercial-grade kitchen, offers students a chance to gain culinary, financial, and entrepreneurial experience. CTC Eats is expected to begin operations at the end of May, participating in school and community events, as well as providing support during emergencies.

Students and their instructor, Dan Wagner, will operate the truck, with profits reinvested into the program. The menu includes items such as roast beef dip sandwiches, grilled Reubens, and recipes from program alumni. The truck also sources fresh, locally grown ingredients for its dishes.

The initiative was driven by David Calvario, executive director of the Community Foundation, and supported by over $100,000 in community funding. The truck was transformed from a utility box truck into a modern food truck by Titan Food Truck Manufacturing in Ohio.

CTC Eats serves as a hands-on learning experience for students, teaching them valuable business and culinary skills that will benefit their future careers.
