Camp Tech, recently held at Washington and Jefferson College, is an exciting and educational week-long program that attracts students from both within and outside the IU1 region. The camp offered a diverse range of tech-related sessions that catered to the interests of young learners entering grades 3 to 8 in the fall of 2023. Participants had the opportunity to explore various fields, including Programming, Graphic Design, Aviation, and Video Production.
In the "Programming with Alice" session, students dove into the world of coding to create their own games, animations, and three-dimensional designs. Alice, a powerful tool, not only imparts logical and computational thinking skills but also introduces the fundamental principles of programming, providing a solid foundation for object-oriented programming.
The "Graphic Design with Procreate" session enabled budding artists to unleash their creativity using the Procreate App. Packed with unique artistic features and intuitive creative tools, Procreate offers the perfect digital art studio for students to create stunning and one-of-a-kind works of art.
For those passionate about filmmaking and storytelling, the "Lights, Camera, Action: Video Production" session was a dream come true. Students collaborated with friends to write scripts, create storyboards, improve acting skills, handle camera work, and master digital film editing. Special effects and the production of their very own film were all part of this fun and informative experience, fostering critical thinking and unleashing their creativity.
Aspiring aviators had a chance to soar high with the "Aviation in Action" session. Through flight simulator software and hands-on activities, students learned the science behind mechanical flight and gain insights into the aircraft industry. This engaging program not only fueled their passion for aviation but also put their STEM skills to the test.
