IU1’s three educational campuses held their graduation ceremonies in May.
Both Waynesburg and Redstone celebrated their seniors on Friday May 26th. At Waynesburg, the three graduates made their way down the hall to the multipurpose room, surrounded by their peers who applauded them as they paraded by. They were greeted by their families, friends, and classmates. Principal Tammy Mandich and IU1 Assistant Executive Director Kristin Szewczyk both spoke to the room about the growth and achievements of the seniors before they were awarded their diplomas. After the ceremony concluded, they were treated to a delicious lunch provided by the Greene County CTC Culinary Arts program.
At Redstone, students and staff took a different approach and enjoyed a traditional cookout with hamburgers, hotdogs, and all the fixings, while commemorating their two seniors. The day consisted of enjoying each other’s company while playing games like football and kickball. It was a fun way to wrap up another successful school year at Redstone.
The McMurray campus held their graduation ceremony on Tuesday May 30th. Families and friends of the graduates gathered in the gym for refreshments before making their way to the auditorium. The three seniors took their seats on stage before Principal Mike Minor introduced them to the crowd. Congratulatory video messages from Executive Director Don Martin and Paraprofessional Adam Blank were played before Head Teacher Scott Urbanek gave the keynote speech. Representatives from the student’s home districts awarded the graduates their diplomas, and LEA’s surprised them all with a gift. At the conclusion of the ceremony, everyone made their way to the library to enjoy some cake!
Congratulations to the eight students who are about to step outside the walls of IU1 and begin the next chapter of their lives. We have enjoyed watching you succeed and are sure that you will continue to thrive as you navigate your way through life. Best of luck to you all!
