Why does the July 1 Special Education Snapshot Template contain five new data fields related to pre-employment transition services? On May 17, 2016, Governor Wolf signed into law Act 26 of 2016 (Act 26) that requires the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) to provide pre-employment transition services to students with disabilities and facilitate the process of job and career development between local education agencies (LEAs) and public and private employers to ensure the successful transition of high school students with disabilities into competitive integrated employment.
*March 12-15, 2017 **PDE Data Summit: “Taking Action with your Data: Empowering Educators”** Use data to increase consistency and confidence in decision making; Create Data Teams to designate accountability for data quality; Establish process performance baselines to support data improvement efforts; and Use technology to better understand existing education data.

The September 2016 Data Quality Network meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, in Room 119B at IU1’s Central Office, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Act 16 of 2000 established the Reporting of Expenditures Relating to Exceptional Students. Per this Act, the Department of Education asks each school district and charter school to report the number of students with disabilities for which expenditures are between $25,000 and $50,000, between $50,000 and $75,000, and over $75,000 for the prior school year.
These are the set dates for the Data Quality Network Meetings for the 2016-17 school year. Topics are subject to change depending on available speakers.
