Grants
Improving the quality of teaching is a priority all across the nation. An important component of improving the quality of teaching is the improvement of teachers’ abilities to integrate technology effectively into standards-based curricula and instruction. In an increasingly technology-oriented environment, teachers must be able to utilize technology successfully in the classroom, but the reality is that many teachers still struggle with this issue.
Intermediate Unit 1 was awarded a first year grant in the Core Teaching Skills for an Information Age directive. During the 2003-2004 school year, 75 teachers met and completed the 9 modules that make up this program. This was the Core Teaching Skills Institute.
During the summer of 2004, 79 teachers took part in an online course that covered 6 of the modules. This was the Core Teaching Skills Summer Academy.
As a continuation of this program, we will be offering an on-line course utilizing the graphic organizer Inspiration during the 2004-2005 school year.
We are very proud of everything that the participants accomplished. Check back here soon for a link to the webquests and other projects that were created during these two courses.
