Requirements for Student Participation
- Must be recommended by High School Guidance Department or Principal
- Understand that online instruction is more demanding than traditional instruction because the individual student is held accountable for their own work. Do not expect this to be the easy way out.
- Must attend June 24, 25 or 26 orientation at various locations (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. or 12:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m. sessions), parent or other adult is required to attend. See application for details.
- Student must have an active email account and address by orientation program
- Required to visit a computer lab at least once a week to take weekly test(s) and have a review of progress with OSS staff
- All tests are taken under supervision of a facilitator at computer labs located within the three counties, must contact online teacher prior to test day.
- Need to have access to a computer (home or library), computers are not provided for students
- Need access to Internet and have basic Internet skills. Familiar with Word or similar software.
- Parent/guardian and student must agree to and sign School Property Usage Agreement for Internet access at computer labs and textbook loan.
- Must show active online participation and advancement or will be required to come to computer labs for daily teacher-facilitated course work. Family provides transportation.
- Parent or guardian must sign a Family/IU1 Agreement outlining family and IU1 responsibilities and indicating family and student commitment to their online instruction
- Intermediate Unit 1 will issue a percentage grade for the class. Grades reported to home district. Letter grade is subject to individual school district grading policy.
- A personal check will be held as deposit for textbook, official student identification needed for ID Picture (school ID card or drivers permit/license), bring to orientation in June.
