Educational Campus at Clark
Mission
The IU1 Educational Campus at Clark is a public alternative school providing a safe, orderly environment where students can acquire and apply knowledge to become life long learners who are productive and responsible citizens, able to compete within a global economy.
Curricula and Programming
As an IU1 program, the Educational Campus at Clark is afforded the benefits of all the services and programs offered to the public schools by IU1 such as: constant updates about No Child Left Behind (NCLB); curricula, instruction and assessments aligned to the Pennsylvania Standards and Anchors; staff development in researched-based best practices; and the opportunity to participate in IU1 grant funded projects.
Instruction
The full day program offers students instruction in core academic subjects including physical education. Various electives are also available. Students can earn 6 + credits per year towards graduation. Teachers differentiate instruction based on the individual needs, readiness, and abilities of the students.
The Staff
All teachers at the Educational Campus at Clark are employees of IU1 and are highly qualified and certified in either math, science, english, social studies or special education. Together they have over 50 years of experience in education. Clark also offers students the services of a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, transition support teacher, school police officer, juvenile probation officer, and various local social service agencies.
Tuition and Transportation
Tuition and transportation costs are paid by the home school district. Students at Clark remain part of their home district's "average daily membership" receiving the same subsidies as other district students. Districts may elect to become "member districts of Clark", guaranteeing them a designated number of slots and a reduced rate of tuition. Students from non-member districts are also accepted to Clark when space permits. The home districts for these students pay an adjusted tuition rate.
Member Districts
- Avella Area School District
- Bethlehem-Center School District
- Chartiers-Houston School District
- McGuffey School District
- Peters Township School District
- Trinity Area School District

What Others are Saying about Clark
"The Educational Campus at Clark does a remarkable job of helping students with problems that we cannot address in the traditional school setting. They bend over backwards to accommodate us. If we call and need to get a student placed, it happens right away and the process is smooth and easy for the district. Once our students are there, they do an excellent job of keeping us informed about the students' progress. Our experiences have been very, very positive."Ron Junko, Principal
Frank Rotunda, Assistant Principal
Washington School District
"As a founding member of the alternative school, offering non-traditional students a quality education has always been my top priority. Since IU1 took over the program, Clark has only improved. Under the IU umbrella, Clark remains in the public school loop...receiving the same information, updates and training about NCLB that my teachers receive. This makes me confident that the students at Clark are receiving an education that is as close as it can be to what is offered in their home district."Charles Mahoney, Superintendent
Chartiers-Houston School District
